Algebra 1


This course will cover the material necessary for students to take the Integrated Algebra High school exam. The High school exam will address both the content and the process strands of the New York State Mathematics Standards. The exam will address the students’ conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and problem solving skills. Graphing Calculators will be required for use by the student. Topics include l inear/ quadratic functions, solving equations and inequalities, properties of exponents, radical expressions, polynomials, rational expressions, counting outcomes, and permutations. Each student is assigned to an expert Algebra 1 tutor to help them achieve success during their Algebra 1 course. This course is a blend of one-on-one Algebra 1 help with a designated tutor, and self-guided study. Students have up to two live sessions per week with the Algebra 1 tutor at an agreed upon time that works best for the student. Between the live sessions, students seek Algebra 1 help via lectures, online resources, Algebra 1 practice tests, and more. When students are on their own, they’ll be tasked with computer-based activities and assignments to help to reinforce concepts taught during the course. Students and parents can keep an eye on the student’s progress and access graded assessments online, which include chapter quiz, midterm exams, and a cumulative final.
